Only 57% of African children are enrolled in primary education, and One in six children die before the age of 5. This number is 25 times higher in sub-Saharan Africa than in the OECD countries, Also Children account for half of all civilian casualties in wars in Africa.
Lack of proper facilities and educators
Another reason for the low education rates in Africa is the lack of proper schooling facilities and unequal opportunity for education across countries. Many schools across Africa find it hard to employ teachers due to the low pay and lack of suitable people
Lack of access to water and sanitation
Contaminated water and inadequate sanitation help transmit diseases like diarrhoea, cholera, dysentery and typhoid. In Africa, more than 315,000 children die every year from diarrhoeal diseases caused by unsafe water and poor sanitation
African women more at risk of violence
Women in Africa are most at risk of violence. 23% of women have been victims of physical or sexual violence committed by a previous husband. While many incidents of domestic violence go unreported,millions of women suffering physical and sexual violence.
